Lecture Title: Good and Necessary Consequence in the Westminster Confession
The Westminster Confession’s chapter On The Holy Scriptures asserts that all things necessary for faith and life are either expressly set down in Scripture, or by good and necessary consequence may be deduced from Scripture. A significant aspect of the Confession’s doctrine of Scripture is the recognition that certain aspects of biblical truth can be, and were designed to be, deduced by good and necessary consequence. This lecture will explore the background, formulation, and application of this crucial provision.
