Dr. David McKay is Professor of Systematic Theology, Ethics and Apologetics at the Reformed Theological College, Belfast, Northern Ireland. Professor David McKay is a graduate of the New University of Ulster (B.A.), the University of London (B.D.), the Reformed Presbyterian Theological Hall, Belfast, and Queen's University, Belfast (M.Th. and Ph.D.). He has been a pastor of the Reformed Presbyterian Church of Ireland since 1984, and Professor at the Reformed Theological College, Belfast, since 1995.

Dr. McKay is Editor of The Covenanter Witness in Ireland since 1991. His publications include An Ecclesiastical Republic: Church Government in the Writings of George Gillespie (1997) and A Bond of Love (2001), a study of Covenant Theology, and he has contributed to journals such as Reformed Theological Journal, Scottish Bulletin of Evangelical Theology, Evangel, and Banner of Truth.

Lecture Title: From Popery to Principle: Covenanters and the Kingship of Christ

One of the cherished principles held by contemporary Covenanters is the Mediatorial Kingship of Christ over the nations. The first generation of Covenanters rejected this doctrine as ‘popery’. How did such a great change come about in Covenanter thinking in the course of three and a half centuries? This lecture seeks to offer some answers.
